Commissioner Candidate Forum for Position 3 at the RED LION HOTEL, Coos Bay. The forum will start at 6pm with food orders available starting at 5pm. This will take place on Wednesday, March 21st. Details to come. No Purchase Necessary to Attend the Event. However, everyone is welcome to purchase a meal. Regards, Rick Hoffine Coos Co. AFP Asst Chapter Leader Hi-- In less than three weeks Americans for Prosperity Coos County Chapter will meet in Coos Bay for the first of three County Commissioner Forums. The venue will be The ESD Building, 1350 Teakwood Avenue, off of Koos Bay Blvd. The date, Wednesday, March 21. The Position 3 candidates are: Melissa Cribbins, Don Gurney, Dale Pennie, Rickey Wiley, Mary Loiselle and Don Beebe. The public is open to attend, as always. No charge. Beebe, a former Coos County's road department foreman is the most recent of the six would-be commissioners to throw his hat in the ring. After 30 years in the department, he left his position there and founded "Encore Kids," a business reselling kids clothes and furniture, which closed during the recession. He is a property manager at Oregon Coast Community Action. Loiselle was born and raised in North Bend and is a 1967 graduate of North Bend High School. She studied and worked at United States International University in San Diego, CA, class of 1990; She has an MA in Institutional Administration and has been a college administrator and business owner. She works at Southwestern Oregon Community College's Small Business Development Center. Wiley studied at Oregon Institute of Technology, lives in North Bend, and is the owner of Rickey Wiley Construction. Pennie, a Bandon resident since 1988 owns Pennie Electric Company. Gurney is a U.S. Navy retired chief warrant officer who has lived in Coos County for 71 years. He owns Gurney Logging and a purebred cattle operation. He has also served two terms on the Port of Coquille River Board. Cribbins is an attorney for the Coquille Indian Tribe. She has a bachelor's degree in biology and biochemistry and is the vice chairwoman of the Coos Bay/North Bend Water Board. "Big Daddy" Noorlander will serve up his world famous pulled pork and beef sandwiches and all the garnishments. Bring your store-bought potluck entrees or home fixins' -- you decide. The meal will begin at 5:30PM with the forum starting at 6:00PM. It's always interesting to me when I hear negatives from people start to flow around election time about this person or that person and their desire to gain office. From our lofty quarters it's easy to criticize, condemn and complain. A well directed tribute should go to candidates who have the courage to step up when the prospect of holding an office (the unglamorous chores of citizenship) come calling. As voters, it's our duty to ask God to bless us with discernment, that our vote will count toward putting him or her whose heart is in the right place to uphold the U.S. Constitution. In addition, those candidates who would seek our vote, would do so knowing the road ahead brings with it the opportunity to commit one's self to serve for limited government and economic and personal freedom for the county citizenry. See you at the forum. Regards, Rick Hoffine Asst Chapter Leader Coos Co. AFP Hi--
